Thanksgiving Minion Nail Tutorial :)

Happy Monday Everybody!! We only have a few more days until Thanksgiving, yay!! All the yummy turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, and my favorite, pumpkin pie. Yummm. Just be sure not to forget the true meaning of thanksgiving. Think about all the blessings you have in your life and everything that you should be thankful for. Take a minute and just think about it. Even if your life doesn't seem the greatest at the moment, there are still a million things to be greatful for. So, to celebrate thanksgiving I decided to do Thanksgiving nails of course.

But, I couldn't just do any old Thanksgiving nails! Look at these! They're little pilgrim minions! They're so stinkin cute! Lol. If you would like how to see how to get these cute little guys, then be sure to stay and read on. :)

Alright, so first, I of course just started with my base coat colors.

White on by Formula X

Then, I decided to work on the pilgrim minions. I took a yellow polish and painted on the bodies.

Next, I took a brown polish, and the smallest dotting tool and painted on the hat.

Next, I took a grey polish and the largest dotting tool and dotted on the eyes. I also took the brown again and at the very bottom of the nail, I painted on a little rectangle for the shirt of the minions.

Then, I finished most of the little details on the pilgrim minion nails. I took a smaller dotting tool and used white polish and dotted on the eyes, and then the smallest dotting tool and used black polish to dot on the pupils. Then I took the smallest dotting tool and black polish again and drew a line from the goggles to the sides of the nails on both sides. I painted on the smile using the small dotting tool as well. And, I also dotted on two small buttons on the brown shirt in the corners.

Then, to finish up these nails, I took the small dotting tool and the brown polish and drew lines from the shirt up to the sides of the nails on both sides diagonally.

And that's all it took for the pilgrim minions. Now for the turkey minions! To start on these nails, I took the large dotting tool, and a bunch of Thanksgiving themed colors, and created a 'turkey feather' background on the nails.

Then, I painted on the bodies of the minions on top of the feathers.

Next, I took the grey and the black polish and dotted on the goggles for the eyes, and the mouths. I chose to do open mouths for the turkey minions.

I then took a red polish and painted on the shirt for these minions and then I took a white polish and dotted on the eyes on top of the goggles.

Next, I finished the details of the mouth. I took the smallest dotting tool and a light pink polish and made the tongue. And then the small dotting tool and white polish and dotted on the teeth.

Next, I finished up the eyes. I dotted on the pupils with the black polish, and then drew lines from the goggles to the sides of the nails with black polish as well.

Then lastly, I just added my topcoat and these nails were all finished! I use Essie's Good to Go Topcoat.

Tada!! All finished and adorable!

Breast Cancer Awareness Nails Tutorial!

Hello everybody! It's a gloomy, rainy day where I live today, but that didn't stop me from showing some pink pride! A friend on Facebook sent me a link of these nails that somebody else had done, and so I went ahead and tried to do my version of them. They aren't as perfect as the original, but I LOVE them because they are cute and fun.

Minion Nails!! What better way to show some pink pride then to use adorable pink minions! So, in this tutorial I am going to show you how you can achieve these amazing nails. :)

These are the nail polishes and tools that you will need:
-A light pink, mine was Formula X in Brazen
-A darker pink, I used Mod Square by Essie
-Any white polish, I used my White On by Sally Hanson's Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear line
-A grey polish, preferably a lighter shade, but I only had a darker shade. I used Cashmere Bathrobe by Essie
-Any Black polish, I used Formula X in Dark Matter
-The largest dotting tool, mine is the green one
-The absolute smallest dotting tool, mine is the pink one
-And lastly I would suggest using a topcoat, my all time go to is Essie's Good to Go top coat

                                                              Now let's begin!!

Go ahead and grab the light pink color and paint a base coat on your nails, do a couple layers to make it opaque. I ended up only having to use two.

After you have that base coat on, grab the darker pink polish and make a little square about 3/4 of the way down your nail to the tip, leave space on both sides of your nail next to the square at the tip.

I know it's hard to tell in the above picture, but I did leave enough space on both sides of the square. Next I started working on the eyes. Grab the largest dotting tool and the grey polish and make eyes on each of the nails, I did one-eyed nails and two-eyed nails like many of the minions have. Make the grey circle big enough because you have to put two more dots within it. These are going to the goggles.

After I had the grey on to show the goggles, I went ahead and used the white nail polish and the same green dotting tool to make the whites of the eyes.

To finish off the eyes, take your black nail polish and the smallest dotting tool and make their eyeballs, I made my little guys all looking different ways.

Alright, now that all the basic stuff is done, it's time to get into that detail work! I started by finishing off the goggles. I used the small dotting tool and the black polish and carefully drew lines from the goggles on each side to the sides of my nails.

Time for the mouths. :) Again using the same small dotting tool and the black, carefully draw on the mouths. I did two different styles, some I gave closed mouths, and some had open mouths. For the open mouths, I just used the dotting tool to create the outline of the open mouth and then just filled it in.

To finish off the open mouth details, I took my light pink polish and the small dotting tool and made the tongues in the mouth. For the teeth I used the smallest dotting tool again and the white polish and carefully dotted on four tiny teeth for each mouth.

Next I finished the little minion suits. I grabbed the dark pink polish and the small dotting tool and drew lines from the top corners of the squares up diagonally toward the sides of my nails to make it look like the minion suit was wrapped around their shoulders. Then, in each corner I dotted a tiny dot where the straps connect to the suit to signify buttons.

Now the actual minions are all done! But to finish my look I added the Breast Cancer Awareness ribbons to the suits. This part was a little difficult so if you decide that you don't think you can do the ribbons, that's okay, your minions will still end up looking adorable and they still show that pink pride. :) For the ribbons I, again, used the smaller dotting tool and CAREFULLY drew/dotted on the ribbon on each nail. It took me a couple tries to get the right method down and I had to redo one nail twice, so don't worry if the first time didn't work out, just be patient, remove the part you screwed up with a q-tip, and try again. It just takes some practice.

Mine aren't even perfect, so don't worry if yours are a little shaky! They still look cute and if you finish with a top coat, it will help to smooth over all the different layers and take a little bit of that shaky look away.
.

And there you have it! The finished look. :) Now these were the tools of choice that I used because they just seemed easier to use than nail stripers because I had more precise control over them, but use whatever tools you feel comfortable using.

Thank you so much for reading this tutorial and I hope that you enjoyed it! I had a lot of fun doing these nails so I hope that you will try them out and love them too! Don't forget that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and even though October is almost over there's still time to show that pink pride to show your support!
