Tips to keep your nails Healthy and B-E-A-Utiful!

Did you know that there IS a proper way to take good care of your nails? If not then be sure to read this post because you will see that proper care for your nails is a super important thing to do. I am going to show you what tools and things you need to do in order to keep those nails healthy and beautiful.

A good way to help keep nail polish on longer is to keep those nails healthy as can be. This involves a number of different things you should be doing. You want to take care of your nails like you would take care of your hair. You don't like greasy hair or split ends do you? I'm gonna share some tips on how to give proper care for your nails as well.

Start by removing any nail polish you have with a NON-acetone base polish remover. Polish removers with acetone can do damage to your nails over time and it is best to use non-acetone remover for your nails.

Then if you would like, clip your nails to whatever length you want them to be. Do NOT bite your nails. If you are guilty of doing this you need to kick that bad habit to curb. I myself used to be a nail biter, but I am so happy that I stopped because I would get hang nails all the time, I would accidentally bite too close to my nail base and it would cause bleeding. So, keep your nails away from those teeth and always have nail clippers available. Invest in a key chain one if you need to so you'll always have it on the go.

This tool is another way to keep those nail healthy and beautiful. It is super important to take care of your cuticles, they can cause hangnails and can get infected. All sorts of bad stuff can happen to them. An easy way to keep your cuticles under control is to use a cuticle pusher and a cuticle trimmer on them. Use the cuticle pusher to push back the cuticle at the base of your nail. Then using the cuticle trimmer you just glide it carefully along the cuticle line and it will get rid of any excess cuticle there may be. You can also use different cuticles oils to rub onto your cuticles as well to keep them healthy. With cuticles pushed back and out of the way, it makes it much easier to apply nail polish starting at the base of  your nail as well.

One last step that is important to do to keep those nails healthy is to buff, file, smooth those ridges and then smooth the nail itself. i would highly suggest in buying a buffer block. They sell these just about everywhere. Walmart, Meijer, Walgreens, and my personal favorite store, Target.  It has numbers on all four sides of the block to tell you what order to do them in. First is the nail file, this is pretty self explanatory, you just file the ends of your nails to make them smooth and not jagged. Then you go to side number two which is smoothing any ridges you have on your nail. You rub the side horizontally across your nail to smooth down those ridges. Time to buff it up now! Take side three and buff it across your nails to make them even smoother. And lastly smooth those nails to finish. This will make your nails look nice and shiny! :)
